Monthly Tip
Cleaning out the lint build up inside your
dryer is very important.  The accumulation
of lint can catch fire and spread to your
home. The lint will also act as insulation
on your motor and cause premature
failure.  All dryers and there vents should
be cleaned at least once a year. Doing
this will keep your family safe and your
dryer operating.
If your Whirlpool dryer is completely dead then it could just be a bad door switch
or an
open thermal fuse.  The door switch is a safety device that shuts the dryer
off if the door is opened or keeps it from turning on when the door is open.

Check and make sure you have power to the dryer.  This can be done with a
volt/ohm meter(A must have!).  If its a gas dryer nd you don't have a meter than
you can plug a small appliance into the outlet to make sure its working.  No
power= call an electrician.   If you suspect a bad door switch then follow
instructions below.

1.  On most models the switch can be checked by raising the top of the dryer.
Raising the top can be accomplished by removing the 2 screws under the lint
filter.

2.  After the screws are removed grasp the top on the sides with both hands and
pull forward and up.  The top will then hinge to the back and now you can visibly
see the switch.

3.  An Ohm Meter is necessary to check the switch.  The switch should have
markings on it reading NO, NC, and COM.

4.  If a bad switch is found to be the cause of failure, then remove the old switch
by removing the 2 screws fastening the old switch to the front panel.  Use all the
parts given with the new switch and reinstall wires as removed.

5.  Reassemble the dryer and test.

You just saved yourself some money!
