Cleaning out the lint build up inside your
dryer is very important. The accumulation
of lint can catch fire and spread to your
home. The lint will also act as insulation
on your motor and cause premature
failure. All dryers and there vents should
be cleaned at least once a year. Doing
this will keep your family safe and your
dryer operating.
Please remember that working on appliances can be dangerous. Appliances have many

If your Maytag washer is leaking water and it is A Herrin style washer, than
its possible that the pump is leaking. A leaking pump can also cause the
belt to get wet and the washer will not spin well.
A good way to tell if your Maytag washer is A Herrin style, is to find the
pump. If the pump is in the front right then it's likely a Newton style washer.
If the pump is in the right rear of the washer it's likely A Herrin style Maytag.
To see if its the pump thats leaking, start your washer to fill. Let it fill to
4-5" and push the timer in to stop it. Have A mop or towels handy for water.
Unplug the washer and lean the washer back slightly to see the pulleys on
bottom of washer. Block the washer so it doesn't fall and observe the pump
pulley in the right rear of washer. Move the belt back and forth to move the
pulley and see if you observe water dripping from pulley. If you see water
than its likely the pump. Remove the belt.
Remove block and let washer down slowly. Remove front panel by
removing two screws in front and pulling bottom of panel out and down.
On some models without screws in front you will have to use A putty knife
between top and front panel to release the two clips. It is advised that you
use safety goggles to protect your eyes. The clips are located 2-3" from
sides. Press putty knife doors back of washer and lift up slightly on top.
Repeat on other side. Hinge top back and protect with A towel or blanket.
With the top up, remove the two screws securing top of front panel to the
washer frame. Tilt top of panel towards you and lift.
With the front panel removed you can check for leaking tub seals or other
causes for the leak.
If the pump is the cause for the leak, plug washer back in and advance
timer to spin to empty washer completely. Unplug washer.
Remove the back panel of washer located at the bottom. Have A wet vac
or towels handy. There will be some water left in drain hoses and pump.
Remove hoses from pump. Take care not to pull to hard on tub to pump
hose and examine when completed. Remove the three 3/8 screws
fastening pump to washer base. Lift out pump.
Reinstall pump, hoses, panels, and belt. Make sure area is dry and plug in
washer. Run washer and check for leaks.
