Monthly Tip
Cleaning out the lint build up inside your
dryer is very important.  The accumulation
of lint can catch fire and spread to your
home. The lint will also act as insulation
on your motor and cause premature
failure.  All dryers and there vents should
be cleaned at least once a year. Doing
this will keep your family safe and your
dryer operating.

If your Maytag washer is leaking water and it is A Newton style washer, than
its possible that the pump is leaking.  A leaking pump can also cause the
pump belt to get wet and slip causing water to not pump out well.

A good way to tell if your Maytag washer is A Newton style, is to find the
pump. If the pump is in the front right then it's likely a Newton style washer.
If the pump is in the right rear of the washer it's likely A Herrin style Maytag.

Unplug washer. Remove front panel by removing two screws in front and
pulling bottom of panel out and down.  It is advised that you use safety

If there is no water visible, plug in washer. Start your washer to fill.  Let it fill
to 4-5" and push the timer in to stop it.  Unplug washer.  Check for water
around pump,  tub seals,  and other sources. Have A mop or towels handy
for water.  If no water is visible, lean the washer back slightly to see the
pulleys on bottom of washer.  Block the washer so it doesn't fall and
observe the pump pulley in the front right of washer.  Move the belt back
and forth to move the pulley and see if you observe water dripping from
pulley or pump.  If you see water than its likely the pump.

Remove block and let washer down slowly.

If the pump is the cause for the leak, plug washer back in and advance
timer to spin to empty washer completely.  Unplug washer.

Lean washer back slightly and reblock.

Remove the drive and pump belts.  Use towels or a wet vac to catch water
left in hoses and pump, and remove the clamps and hoses from pump.

Remove the three screws securing pump to base of washer.  The screws
are removed from underneath the base.

Reinstall pump. Do not tighten screws all the way. Reinstall drive belt
before pump belt. Be sure the pump belt is on the lower pulley of motor
pulley.  Before tightening pump screws, adjust pump belt and tighten
screws.  If you pinch belt in between motor and pump pulley, there should
be 1/4" gap.  Do not over tighten belt.

Reinstall hoses and tighten clamps. Reinstall panel. Make sure area is dry
and plug in washer.  Run washer and check for leaks.
