Monthly Tip
Cleaning out the lint build up inside your
dryer is very important.  The accumulation
of lint can catch fire and spread to your
home. The lint will also act as insulation
on your motor and cause premature
failure.  All dryers and there vents should
be cleaned at least once a year. Doing
this will keep your family safe and your
dryer operating.
:: Front Loading Frigidaire Washer - Clogged Drain ::
Complaint: Frigidaire washer wont spin; Frigidaire washer wont pump out

** Picture shown is a stacked unit but this example applies to separate front
loading Frigidaire's as well.**

Customers complaint was that the washer would not spin out. When I arrived
the first thing I did was put the washer timer to spin and tested. Right away I
noticed that there was a lot of water left in machine.  So right away I am
thinking clogged drain or bad pump.

I start by unplugging the washer and removing the 2 screws securing the
lower service panel. I remove the panel and now have access to the remote
drain pump.

Since I heard the pump trying to work during spin, I assume the drain or
pump is clogged I remove the drain hoses from the pump to check for a
broken impeller or a jammed impeller. Take care to protect the floor while
removing hoses as there will be water. I use a wet vac to suck up the water
slowly as I remove hose.

Once you have hoses removed and water under control, remove pump and
inspect. Pump is removed from unit by removing 2- 5/16" screws.  Once
removed inspect impeller for blockage. Spin impeller to make sure its free.
There will be some slight resistance. Check hoses for blockage. Always
remove any debris from boot that connects to pump as it always has change
etc.

In this case I found the filter strainer inside boot full of change and restricting
water flow. I carefully removed strainer from boot and cleaned out.

Reinstall strainer, pump, and clamps.

Start washer to fill and check for leaks. Advance timer to spin and check for
leaks.

Reinstall lower service panel.
